Zine Kit Pop-Up!

March 28, 10 - 2 pm

Stop by the Jackson Library lobby (Main Building/College Ave. entrance) to explore a pop-up exhibit of zines from UNCG's Martha Blakeney Hodges Special Collections and University Archives and assemble your own zine-making kit (or take a pre-made one to-go)! Each kit will contain everything you need to create your own 8-page zine, plus a coupon for making ten free color copies of your zine in the library during select hours the week of April 8-12. Then, you can share your zine with your friends and family, or bring copies of it to trade at the Fold Under Pressure Zine Fair on April 13.

Let's Get Personal: Celebrating the Perzine

April 5, 1 - 4 pm

Join Tristin Miller, local artist, founder and organizer of the GSO Zine Fest, and UNCG alum, for a hands-on perzine workshop. What's a perzine? It's a genre of zine focused on a creator's personal reflections, observations, and experiences—almost like a diary in zine format! This workshop is open to the public and free to attend; all supplies will be provided.

Spellbook-Making Workshop

April 13, 2:30 - 4 pm

Hauling your mystical grimoire can be tough on your back, so it’s good to travel with a booklet of just the essential, every day spells for connection, transmutation, and revenge. We’ll use book pages, drawings, found objects, text, and personal ephemera to get you started on collaged enchantments, conjurations, and mesmerisms for everyday life in the form of a one-page zine. Pop by the alley between 2:30 and 4 and the itinerant thaumaturgist (and MFA candidate), Jason Lord, will be your mystical guide–we’ll have the materials, you bring the magic.
